Ellison Unveils Stainless Steel Hardware For Its Balanced Doors
New Material Offers Supreme Durability and Matching Finish
FALCONER, NY… Ellison Bronze balanced door hardware is now available in stainless steel, replacing the previously used tombasil, or ‘white bronze.’
“We’re excited to offer stainless steel as a hardware material option,” says Mark Graves, President of Ellison. “As the inventor of the balanced door system, with more than 100 years of experience, it is our responsibility to consistently provide our customers with new product options and design considerations.”
Ellison’s new stainless steel hardware is manufactured with #316L alloy stainless steel; a perfect color and finish match to the stainless steel door and framing material that complements the finish hardware. The material does not require a lacquer protective coating and will not tarnish over time, as tombasil does, as a result of its protective coating breaking down or wearing off.
Because of its corrosion resistance, stainless steel is an ideal choice for areas with salt air, or where snow and ice melting products are used. It is a stronger alloy than tombasil, which also makes it better suited for larger, heavier doors.
The stainless steel hardware can be used on all door material types – stainless steel for a matching finish, extruded aluminum (painted or anodized), wood, or bronze for a contrasting look. Ellison’s traditional-colored bronze balanced hardware is still available for use on any door where a bronze finish is desired.
