Ellison Bronze U-Value Information
Energy efficiency is becoming increasingly important. High thermal insulation leads to lower energy costs. Our narrow stile doors offers an excellent U-value, which minimizes heat and energy loss. The lower the U-factor, the better the door keeps in heat.
Ellison’s narrow stile door includes our 1” wide vertical stiles, a squared 4 ¾” high top rail, a squared 10” high bottom rail (following ADA guidelines) creating an exceptional thermal performance while maintaining the craftsmanship and quality of an Ellison Bronze door.
Testing was done with a 960mm x 2090mm (38in. x 82in.) single doors leaf. The material tested was a painted, non-thermally broken aluminum door with mohair weatherstripping AND also, a Stainless Steel door with mohair weatherstripping.
Stainless-Steel Stile Door
| Glass Make-up | U-value |
|---|---|
| ¼” Ultra-clear x air x ¼” Ultra-clear | 0.63 |
| ¼” clear x air x ¼ clear | 0.63 |
| ¼” SNX 62/27 x air x ¼” clear | 0.50 |
Aluminum Stile Door
| Glass Make-up | U-value |
|---|---|
| ¼” Ultra-clear x air x ¼” Ultra-clear | 0.56 |
| ¼” clear x air x ¼ clear | 0.56 |
| ¼” SNX 62/27 x air x ¼” clear | 0.43 |
Note: The NFRC system specification during testing included 1” thick insulated glass (as listed above), single door with top and bottom rails, and 1” wide vertical stiles. U-value received during testing is per a glass panel. Any alterations to the above-mentioned could alter the U-Value Factor.
